How do I save a worksheet as a template and reuse it?
Open any worksheet you've made and click "Save as template" in the tools alongside it. Give it a name, add an optional note for yourself, and save — Lessonpress stores that worksheet's grade, subject, topic, and structure settings (not the questions). The next time you visit the Create page, your templates appear at the top as a row of cards. Click one and the wizard jumps straight to the final step, pre-filled with all those settings, ready for you to generate a fresh worksheet in seconds. Templates are part of the Teacher and Pro plans.
Step by step
Open a worksheet you want to reuse
Go to your saved worksheets and open the one whose settings — grade, subject, topic, and question structure — you want to save as a starting point.
Click "Save as template"
Find "Save as template" in the tools alongside the worksheet. A small panel drops down right below the button.
Name it and save
The name is pre-filled from the worksheet title — edit it if you like, add an optional note for yourself, then click "Save template." A brief confirmation toast appears when it's saved. The template stores the settings, not the questions.
Use it to start a new worksheet
Next time you visit the Create page, your templates appear at the top as a row of cards under "My templates." Click a card and the wizard jumps straight to the final step, pre-filled with that template's grade, subject, topic, and structure — just press generate.
Delete a template you no longer need
Hover over a template card and click the small × button in its top-right corner. A confirmation prompt appears before it's removed. The worksheets you made from it are not affected.
Good to know
- Templates save the SETTINGS (grade, subject, topic, structure) — not the questions. Each use generates a fresh worksheet.
- Your most-used templates float to the top of the row automatically, so the ones you reach for often stay closest.
- A template is a great way to lock in a recurring format — like a weekly Friday quiz — so you only ever have to set it up once.
Common questions
What does a template actually save?
The worksheet's grade, subject, topic (or standard), and structure settings — things like question count and header fields. It does NOT save the questions themselves, so each worksheet you generate from a template is a fresh, original page.
Can I use a template from the dashboard too?
Yes. My Worksheets has a "Templates" tab that lists and manages every template you've saved. To start a new worksheet from one, open the Create page — your templates appear at the top as a row of cards.
What happens to worksheets I made from a template if I delete the template?
Nothing — the worksheets are independent rows in your library. Deleting a template only removes the template card; any worksheets already made from it stay exactly as they are.
How many templates can I have?
Up to 50 templates per account. The most-used ones float to the top, so you can always reach your favorites quickly.
