How do I make a worksheet shorter or longer?
Open any worksheet you've made and use the "Shorter −" or "Longer +" buttons in the tools alongside it. Lessonpress generates a new version of the same worksheet — same standard, same topic, same difficulty — with the question count stepped down or up by five each time, within 5 and 25. (The wizard itself goes from 3 to 30 — the buttons are for adjusting a sheet you already made.) Your original stays untouched; the new version is saved alongside it. Adjusting length is part of the Teacher and Pro plans.
Step by step
Open a worksheet you've made
Go to your saved worksheets and open the one you want to adjust, or generate a fresh one first.
Find the Length controls
In the tools alongside the worksheet, look under the "Length" section — below the Difficulty controls and above Language. You'll see two buttons: "Shorter −" and "Longer +."
Click Shorter or Longer
"Shorter −" steps the count down; "Longer +" steps it up. Lessonpress generates a new version of the worksheet with the adjusted count — same standard, same topic, same difficulty. It takes about the same time as a regular generation.
Review the new version
The adjusted worksheet opens as its own page, saved alongside the original. Your original is unchanged — both exist in your library, grouped together.
Good to know
- The count steps in increments of five (5, 10, 15, 20, 25). The minimum is 5 and the maximum is 25 — the buttons disable at those limits.
- Use "Shorter −" for a quick daily check-in; use "Longer +" for a longer independent practice session.
- Adjusting length is different from adjusting difficulty (Gentler / Harder) — it keeps the same difficulty, just changes how many questions are on the page.
Common questions
Does adjusting length change the difficulty?
No. "Shorter −" and "Longer +" only change the question count. The standard, topic, and difficulty level stay exactly as they were. Use "Gentler ↓" or "Harder ↑" if you want to change difficulty instead.
Does my original worksheet change?
No. Each adjustment creates a new, separate worksheet saved alongside the original. Your original stays exactly as it was.
How many questions can I have on a worksheet?
You can generate anywhere from 3 to 30 in the wizard. The Shorter/Longer buttons work within 5 and 25 — they step by five from wherever you are, so a 12-question sheet goes to 17, then 22, then stops at 25.
