How do I help students who are behind on a standard?
When your class is struggling with a standard (in any subject), open the remediation tool (targeted catch-up practice) — Lessonpress generates practice on exactly that standard. Right in the modal you can see how many students need each standard (and exactly who), so you know which small group to pull. For math standards, it also surfaces the foundational skills that standard builds on as optional add-ons — so you reteach the root cause, not just the symptom. Step by step
Spot a weak standard
From a class's Mastery tab — its scoring grid, or the "Needs support" section below it — find a standard your class or a student is struggling with.
Open the remediation tool
Open it from the "Needs support" card at the bottom of the Mastery tab, using "Create remediation set →" — or, for a single standard, expand "See by standard" and use that standard's "Create remediation worksheet →", where each one shows its proficiency distribution. Either way the weak standard is selected for you. Each standard shows how many students need it; click "show names" to see exactly who, so you know which students to pull into a small group.
Consider the foundational skills
Lessonpress shows the prerequisite skills that standard is built on, under "Foundational skills these build on." They're optional and unchecked — add any you think are the real gap.
Generate the practice
Choose one combined sheet or a pack (one worksheet per standard), then generate. Lessonpress writes a targeted worksheet on the standard (and any prerequisites you added), with an answer key. It targets the standard, not individual students — so it's one worksheet you print and hand to whoever needs it. Save it as a PDF or print it.

Common questions
Can I see which students need it?
Yes. In the remediation modal, each assessed standard shows "N of M students need this," and "show names" lists exactly who (the students scored below proficient). That's how you know which small group to pull — it's a display aid, not student data attached to the worksheet.
Does it make a separate worksheet for each student?
No — the class remediation tool targets the weak standard, not individual students. You get one worksheet (or a pack, one per standard) to print and give to whoever needs it. For a worksheet tuned to a single student's own gaps, open that student's page and use their remediation button instead.
What are "foundational skills"?
They're the earlier skills a standard depends on. For example, regrouping in subtraction builds on place value. Lessonpress maps each K–5 math standard to one or two of these so you can reteach the root cause.
Are the prerequisites added automatically?
No. They're shown as unchecked suggestions. You choose which, if any, to include — by design, nothing is added without your say-so.
Does this work for every subject?
